The latest release of iPhone OS 3 appears to be resolving issues relating to wifi dropouts in general usage.

Previously, wifi connection would fail apparently randomly, whilst appearing to remain connected. Now, it appears to work without pronounced dropouts.

The phone appears to hold its connection and speed in its new configuration. Which is nice.
