Nábídána supports the case of those who have served in the UK Armed Forces being allowed to come to the United Kingdom to settle with their families. That having been said, Nábídána finds it preposterous that the wonderful Joanna Lumley should be essentially able, to all optics, to set British Immigration policy, and to browbeat Minister Phil Woolas in a public and impromptu press conference whichyou really must see to believe.
Lumley is fantastic, a delight, and insanely powerful right now. It shows how completely screwed the UK government is that this embarrassment has been allowed to unfold the way it has. Gordon Brown must stamp whatever authority he still has ont his government and run an extensive reshuffle now, to clear out dead wood and put someone in place to succeed him.
This has gone on long enough; whilst I like nothing more than to see Labour suffer, I hate nothing more than a government out of control, having lost the run of itself, and being dictated to sternly by the celebrity figureheads of niche interest groups.
All of this comes hot on the heels of the release of expenses information which has some Labour MPs on ‘suicide watch’, if that’s to be believed. It’s hard to work out what to believe about this government any more. Forthcoming local elections will be a bloodbath, and the prospect of eleven more months of the slow death of our system of government, followed by an increasingly enormous landslide for the tories must make the blood of Labour supporters boil as it did during Lord Levy, David Abrahams and the Dodgy Dossier.
Gordon Brown: Get a fucking grip on this government or get out of No. 10.
