If you’ve been left scratching your head about why the iPhone 3GS can be so awesome in many respects, but why it sucks in terms of its WiFi, you’re not alone. A few triangulated tests here have shown extreme variability, and you may wish to check out this very brief research paper before handing the phone in to Apple.

To save you all the trouble happening everywhere else, here’s a guide to what worked for me with the jailbreak of my iPhone 3GS with the iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w.

The iPhone 3GS is an improvement over the 3G and a massive improvement over the iPhone 1st generation. I’m filing this article under geek, so please feel free to move on.
